  • R&D: actor callout Posted on 04 June 2014

We're holding R&D sessions for two projects later this month, and looking for actors who'd like to be involved. Each R&D period will be over two consecutive days; the precise dates are currently being confirmed, so we're able to take into account individuals' availability.

Project 1: An exploration of objectum-sexuality
    Dates: TBC
    Times: 10am-5pm each day
    Venue: TBC (London zones 1/2)
Fee: Travel expenses paid, plus £5 each day towards food
Info: We've been researching objectum-sexual relationships (romantic relationships between people and objects) for the past few months; we are currently, thanks to the kind support of OS Internationale, conducting interviews with various objectum-sexual people. With the majority of media coverage of OS being sensationalised and misleading, we want to present these relationships honestly. We'll be exploring how to present interactions between people and objects onstage; the R&D requires all involved to have an open-minded approach to these atypical and oft-misunderstood relationships.

R&D 2: An adaptation of Botan Doro
    Dates: TBC
    Times: 10am-5pm each day
    Venue: TBC (London zones 1/2)
Fee: Travel expenses paid, plus £5 each day towards food
Info: We're adapting a classic Japanese ghost storywhich tells the tale of a man and woman who fall deeply in love but whose relationship turns gruesome and dangerous when the woman is revealed to be a ghost. An extreme story of loneliness, love and death, We want to blend narration, dialogue, movement and possibly magic to make the most of Botan Doro's romantic and gory story of loneliness, love and death. Whilst no experience with physical theatre is necessary, those involved in this R&D will need to be comfortable devising physical work.

We're looking for three actors to be involved in each R&D. If you would like to be involved in either (or both!) then please get in touch with us at info@dissolvetheatre.co.uk by midnight 6th June, stating which project you're interested in, your availability during June and whether you play any instrument/are comfortable singing (neither of these are necessary, however).

We look forward to hearing from you!
